We meet on Saturdays during Term Time

King's Swords Fencing Club has 4 excellent instructors with a wealth of national and international fencing experience and we pride ourselves on our coaching ability. Our instructors are all vetted and are all very experienced in teaching children.

Marion Nemitz

Marion Nemitz is a student of former olympic coach Tomek Walicki, and continues to work closely with him.

She began as a volunteer coach at Salle Oxon Fencing Club in 2014. After moving to London in 2015 she coached at Westminster Under School and Westminster Choir School.

Marion is a fully qualified British Fencing level 2 coach and, at King's Swords Fencing Club, she coaches our beginner and improver / advanced Foil classes.

Brian Riseley

Brian Riseley is a club coach who has been fencing for 24 years and coaching both children and adults for 18 years.

He has coached sports schools for SportsCoach and for Merton and Guildford Councils and over a dozen schools.

Brian has also coached his son, David Riseley, who is a top GB fencer and former member of the GB Olympic team.

Brian is a British Fencing Level 2 coach and, at King's Swords Fencing Club, he coaches our "Prep Fencing" class for 6-8 year old beginners as well as the beginner and improver / advanced Foil classes.

Brian Robinson

Nearly 50 years ago Brian Robinson started fencing in Belfast aged 11 and by 16 he was fencing all three weapons and in the Northern Ireland schools team. By 18 his main weapon was sabre and he went on to represent NI at many senior 4 nations and 3 Commonwealth Fencing Championships and was Irish sabre champion many times.

He coached extensively in Northern Ireland and continued fencing and coaching after moving to London in 1996. With his partner Kathy they bought the first set of soft fencing equipment in the UK and pioneered its use. In 2002 they set up the first classes in the UK for 6 to 10 year olds with foam and plastic swords and plastic masks. These classes have reached thousands of children and helped produce national champions at their age groups and many others who have represented England, Scotland and Great Britain.

Brian is a British Fencing Level 4 foil and sabre coach and, at King's Swords Fencing Club, Brian coaches our beginner and improver / advanced Sabre classes.

Kate Smith

Kate Smith started fencing in 1966, is a former British Champion and GBR team member, 4 times British Veteran's Champion, twice Veteran World Champion silver-medallist, once bronze medallist.

She was GB Under-20 Epee Captain (1999 – 2012), a member of the Organising team for the Junior & Cadet World Championships in Belfast (2009), Chef de Mission for the GB Team Junior & Cadet World Championships in Jordan (2011), and organised many international training camps and competitions over the same period.

Kate has been a fencing instructor since 2000 and is a British Fencing Level 3 coach. At King's Swords Fencing Club she coaches our beginner and improver/advanced Epee classes.
